Fiji Bulikula are preparing for the biggest match in their women's rugby league history after qualifying for a World Cup semi-final against defending champions Australia.
The Jillaroos underlined the scale of the challenge on Sunday 1 November by defeating Wales 124–6 at CommBank Stadium, setting a new Rugby League World Cup scoring record.
Australia scored 20 tries, including six by Jaime Chapman and four by Jess Sergis, to complete a commanding group-stage performance.
Fiji earned their place in the final four with a 54–6 victory over France at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday 31 October. It is the Bulikula's first appearance at a Women's Rugby League World Cup, making their progression to the knockout stage a milestone for the sport in Fiji.
The team has already shown it can compete with established international opponents, having pushed New Zealand in an 18–12 opening-round defeat.
Facing Australia will be a different test. The Jillaroos have significant NRLW experience across their squad and arrive with the tournament's most imposing attacking record.
For Fiji captain Sereana Naitokatoka and her teammates, the match is also a chance to demonstrate the progress of the country's women's programme on a global stage.
The semi-final is scheduled for Sunday 8 November at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.
